Mission M108 taildragger ready completes flight testing

Earlier this month, the first Mission M108 taildragger, G-OZZE, completed its ground and flight testing programme and is ready for the LAA Rally.

The test programme went extremely well. G-OZZE performed flawlessly throughout. Filip Lambert, who conducted the flights, said, “The newly designed tailwheel steering and rudder pedal system with toe brakes was well worth the wait and does a perfect job. G-OZZE handles really well during taxy, take-off and landing. When on the ground, the rudder pedals give a lot of control authority and allows very precise steering. G-OZZE has been flown from grass and concrete runways, and in crosswinds from all directions. This taildragger behaves very well and feels just right. Besides, G-OZZE cruises about 3-4 kt faster than a nosewheel Mission M108 with the same fit. Flying G-OZZE has really brought back all my enthusiasm for taildraggers. I love it.”
 

Mission M108 gets autopilot and more

We have received LAA approval for a Garmin G3X AFCS (Automatic Flight Control System) on the Mission M108. This option is now available to all Mission M108 aircraft with a Garmin G3X or G3X Touch instrument panel and has comfort as well as safety benefits.
The two-axis autopilot includes roll and pitch servos, and provides advanced features such as flight director, CWS (Control Wheel Steering), overspeed & underspeed protection, and more. The results of the flight tests show that the G3X autopilot flies the aircraft with an astonishing accuracy and smoothness.
The package also comes with Garmin ESP-X (Electronic Stability Protection). When the autopilot is not flying the aircraft, ESP-X monitors the aircraft and provides pitch and roll control feedback. This is an aid designed to prevent the aircraft from reaching unsafe attitudes and/or airspeeds.
